The Battle is not over: Students’ union clamours for more reduction, decribes Management’s reduction as ‘Peanut’

After scanning through the ambiguous release by the students union through its General Secretary, we finally deduced what they wanted Great Ife students to know.

Still on the school fees…
The union in its release reiterates its commitment to further reduction in the school fees as it claims the fees has caused and is still causing untold hardship for some. It’s stated that the 3000 Naira ‘Peanut’ reduction isn’t enough. According to the Gen Sec’s release, a downward review of the fees is still being clamoured for as letters have been written to the governing council, National assembly, federal ministry of education and their likes; all these are being done peacefully without disrupting the academic calender (again.)

In other news…
It seems the union is getting tired of peacefully soliciting for reinstatement of the indicted OAU 8 and the removal of it leaders from the probationary rustication lists as it already threatened to mobilize students in demand for justice if things remain the same. The union furthered accused the management of unjustly and unlawfully violating the rights of the students to contest in the last general OAU elections

In conclusion, it promises to maintain it stand and continue to push for its demands for justice. One of the demand also stated that students should be involved in “major decison making organs of the university,” as the release put it.
