National Association of Nigerian Editors to Officially Commence on November 16, 2015

The National Association of Nigerian Campus Editors (NANCE) has officially announced her summit to commence on the 16th of November, 2015. This is going to be the first of its kind.

NANCE, a body created in a deed to create unity and be a voice for all campus editors, will commence operation on this day and this will begin by the setting up of a caretaker’s committee that comprises representatives from all Nigerian Tertiary institution.

This body whose head office is going to be situated in OAU for the period of 6months will create avenue for members to use their pen in building our dear Nation.

Students’ Union Press Release As Regards Resumption

The leadership of the Students’ Union having witnessed the development on the University campus today and having critically observed a relatively peaceful and serene environment with vehicular movement, light, Water and health Centre back in full operation.

The Union hereby suggests that since:
Barricades are no longer in place and there is vehicular movement.

Light and water and other welfare apparatus such as the Health Centre in fully operation
With the HOPE that the above mentioned instrumentalities will be intact and unhampered with. We therefore Suggests that students should resume without fear or doubt in them.

In a meeting with leadership of NASU early today, they posited that their strike actions continues until their earned allowance is been paid.

We also hereby demand for the immediate payment of the 64-months earned allowance of the NASU workers so that our students will not continue to be victims of any social and politico phantasmagoria and be inimically subjected to undue academic and economic quagmire.

The students’ union also takes cognizance of the lectures that held today. We have been relating with the Academic Staff Union of University on the issue and assure quick resolution.

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju has confirmed that NASU is being owed 64 months unpaid allowances, oauchristians.com reports.

The university’s PRO, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju said in an interview (with Olofofo campus media) that OAU has always been going on “Mid-semester” breaks.

NASU OAU Will not back down on Its Protest till they get Paid

The chairman of the Non Academic staff Union, Obafemi Awolowo university, Comrade Wole Odewunmi has said that the body will not stop its protest until they get paid.

“We’re not calling off the protest anytime soon until we get paid” NASU Chairman told Olofofo campus media shortly before a congress of NASU members held.

Comrade Wole Odewunmi also mentioned that light being restored on campus was as a result of the intervention of the Ooni of Ife.

“We returned electricity and water supply on OAU campus based on the meeting we held with Ooni of ife” He said.

Meanwhile, in other unrelated news, a former OAU lecturer was gunned down by unknown gunmen in the late hours of Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at his residence. According to LFB, he was killed in a shootout.
