Becoming Too Comfortable With God.

Let’s be sincere we all have at one time or the other been guilty of this, we slow down our horses, we get too comfortable and let our guards down. Most scenarios are  ‘I’m a bit busy now  I will pray later, I will do it right after this chore, I know we can think up more excuses.

Proverbs 6:10 – 11 warns us of this : A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep–so shall your poverty come on you like a robber, and your need like an armed man.

It isn’t enough we prayed for 30 hours last week, that was last week, what are you doing this week? Last week prayers pulling you through? Mom’s prayers keeps you going? Good but you can do better. Imagine eating last week food when you can prepare a fresh one and guess what? You have all the ingredients with you, all you need to do is just be willing to go that mile. The same goes for our relationship with God, He has given us an unlimited pass to Him, opened the communication pathway to us and He is waiting to hear from us.

And you know the great thing about this unlimited pass, you can pray anywhere, on the go, in the bus, while cooking, solving maths, shopping, in a meeting, it doesn’t have to be loud, it doesn’t have to be long and people doesn’t need to know you are praying after all it’s just you and your heavenly father communicating .

I know there will be days when we are at our lowest and there will be days we are at the peak and all the other days in between, God wants to share those moments with us. Five minutes every hour can go a long way in our lives if we make it a habit. We got our e bible, we can read on the go. He wants us to be comfortable with Him, comfortable enough to speak to Him when we want to decide whether we want to do something as simple as buying either watermelon or pawpaw.

But not too comfortable that we will wake up in the morning and we can’t say ‘Thank you Lord for another beautiful day ‘or even a ‘Good morning Lord’. That’s taking Him for granted. I for one will work on this for I am not perfect and I do slack at times but I am determined to be consistent and I will. So the question now is will you?

Actually SMS came onboard in 1999 during the era of legacy and Africa. It was a move needed to safe our students from the rustication sentence of the school management, they negotiated with the school management that instead of rusticating those caught in the act of stealing they should rather allow the student union body cum Security commitee to adequately moderate all said cases.

Two graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University, Tolu Ajewole and Babajide Owosakin are taking the battle for news discovery to Internet giants, Facebook & Twitter with their innovative mobile news app, Newspepa

According to Stargist.com, the application enables users discover top news from their favourite sites all in one place. It features news from top sources such as Punch, Vanguard, Nigerian Monitor & Daily Post.

The fresh graduates of computer engineering developed the app to organise the overwhelming amounts of news information in a useful way for Nigerians.

Babajide said they achieved this by developing software algorithms to rank and recommend the most important stories to users.

Tolu made mention of the fact that they had gotten over 40,000 users within one month of launch which is well beyond their expectations.

“The feedback has been very encouraging and we’re improving the site daily for users”; she said.

Oprah Appoints New CSO.

Opeyemi Oladunjoye, Oprah,the
Students Union acting president has appointed a new
Chief Security Officer of the Student Union security team.
Oprah, appointed Seyi as the new Chief Security
Officer of the Students Union security team. Seyi is a part 3 student studying
Management and Accounting.

With the suspension of the Student’s  Union President;Omotayo Akande,TY,
his vice president,Oprah, who
is the acting President has taken  charge of the
position wholeheartedly.

This information was made known yesterday at a meeting Oprah
had with the students union security team.

According to Oprah, she changed  Michael, the
former Chief Security Officer because his loyalty belong
to the suspended president only.

“Severally, Michael
has pounced on me by saying it’s only the president
who can interfere in the security team’s affair, in fact
he bounced me out of a meeting in his own capacity –
not of anybody instruction and the president was aware of
this with nothing done in its respect ”

Although Oprah has appointed a new
CSO, the security team is yet to accept him
as their boss.
Comrade Upah, a member of security team claimed
Oprah is just overwhelmed by power.

“She has no right
to bring anybody from anywhere to head our team. The
parliament ,even though have not rectified us, have
recognized the security team – we have sent a list of
members including position held by each members to
the house and their resolution ,only intending members
not CSO can join our team” Upah said.

Lukmonfasasinews.com was told by a member of the security team known as smile that “Oprah, insulted us, she asked most of us to shut up
several times even the CSO was embarrassed by Oprah,
when he tried to moderate ”

The former CSO Michael, when asked said ” I can’t
say explicitly that she said I should shut up, but her
reaction did shut me up. Oprah was in the meeting to
fight, she raised several allegations which I debunked
after that she began to impose on us” Michael said.

Meanwhile, acting president Oprah, refuted the
allegation that she insulted the team. She said “That’s
is not true, I did not insult anybody”.
She went on to say she only did what is right.

“As the
acting President, I can decide who is Grand Chief Security Officer of
the union, I need someone I can trust, someone I can
stand for and not someone, who does not have respect
for CEC members. This even pending the one month I
will be acting”. Oprah said.

OAU Is Hosting 2015 NISONM.

Obafemi Awolowo University is
currently hosting the 2015 Nigeria Schools of Nursing
and Midwifery Games, NISONM.
OAU who hosted the 24th Nigeria University Games, NUGA,
in 2014, is now hosting NISONM.

NISONM games, was declared opened yesterday by
the university authority .It has
over 500 delegates in
participation from Nursing
Institutions across the country.

Sporting activities played at the games includes :
Volleyball, Football, Lawn Tennis, Basketball, Table
tennis,Handball,Athletics and many more.

The SUG President,Akande Omotayo ,popularly known as TY,has been suspended following the controversy that followed his application for sponsorship to attend an International Campus Conference at New York,
United State of America. The
President was found wanting of not following
“constitutional procedure” by sending his letter
of request for sponsorship without the
signature of the Union Secretary-General or his
Assistant (both claimed to be away) and his
failure to inform the House.”

OAU students have taken to Social Media to air their opinion on his suspension.

Why Can’t A Female Run For The Students’ Union President?

Its almost a rhetorical question,the most recurring answer I get is “Hmm No” when I asked girls if they would go for the post of Students’ Union president . When I asked why some said they were not “politically inclined”, some said they would rather go for the post of Vice President ,some said they couldn’t cope with the challenges that comes with the post,some used their need to protect their CGPA as an excuse,a great number believed it’s a guy’s post and that a female wouldn’t be voted in as the president because despite the fact we live in a 21st century world men are still 17th century orientated .

Ever since OAU’s Students’ Union was founded in 1962 there had never been a female president ever so the question again is why? Only one female attempted,Mama Agenda in 2010 which she lost. There are just a few political oriented females in OAU who could successfully contend for the post and I believe it comes from old age belief that women are not cut out for rational thoughts,that they are emotional beings who lets their emotion get in the way of their reasoning.

If Oprah decides to contest for Presidency would guys vote for her? That is a question I know will generate a lot of debate but really what makes Oprah different from TY? She could do a better job if given the chance, which she will with her being in charge now.

But really the issue lies with the females,we need to stand up and preach the need for an understanding of politics,just because they are men doesn’t mean they should make all the decisions for us. We need to have a say in everything that involves us,we need a larger percentage of women in the Parliament,we need to get interested in politics because as Will Rogers said: Women are not the weak, frail little flowers that they are advertised. There has never been anything invented yet, including war, that a man would enter into, that a woman wouldn’t, too.

By the way I am not a Feminist because these days there so many version of it, I am just a lady who believes that everyone should have equal rights and not be judge for a post because of their gender but by their character and if that makes me a Feminist then Feminist I am.

Believing in you is the best gift you can ever give yourself.

Chris Brown On The Path To Seeks God’s Help.

The Popular R&B singer, Chris brown, seems to be making a public cry for help to God. Recently he lamented on his life being a burden that would make the “average man” commit suicide and that he’s tired of the devil ruining his life.

Christianpost.com reported that he shared an Instagram post with his fans last week. According to them, Brown said he thinks the average man would have committed suicide if he had to endure what he has to deal with on a daily basis and says he heard “God speak for the first time.”

“When you’re tired of the [expletive] devil ruining your life and you hear God speak for the first time. No one knows what I deal with on a day to day. The average man wouldn’t hesitate to blow his [expletive] brains out …,” wrote Chris in the post.

“Most won’t understand the genius and beauty in change and learning and the people who have devilish intentions will win in the short term. My soul will always be pure of heart. What’s on the surface always looks like one big party but inside there is a little boy looking for help and guidance,”
he continued.

“People say ‘be a man.’ Yeah, that’s right but it doesn’t take away any pain you really go through. I just wanna stay out the way and do music. Most importantly and great father. I don’t have any more patience for anything that will cause me to self destruct!!” Chris added.

The post has been liked 285,000 times on Instagram.There have been outpouring support from his fans many of whom concluded that they think God is calling him.

“You feel this way because your life does not match up with the Bible. You say you love God bro, but your actions do not prove it fam. Also you need accountability, there are not many people around you who tell you the truth about yourself, only what you want to hear.

God has a plan for your life bro, but you must be willing to give up EVERYTHING. Not some things, everything. That’s what he is calling you to do,” wrote Instagram user wordforthought1, who reveals on his profile
page that he is “in love with God.”

“I want you to know that I am not a fan of your music, but you said you want God, and as a
disciple of Jesus Christ it is my purpose to guide men to the truth. You asked God and here it is,”
he added.

Brown who is currently on tour and is expected to perform in Israel on Monday was caught on camera performing nine back flips in a row on a beach in Tel Aviv.

Transgendered Ex-OAU Student Publishes Controversial Book

Stephanie Rose, formerly known as Dapo Adaralegbe, has been a
trending topic on social media for the past 84 hours.

The transgender and former law student of Obafemi
Awolowo University wrote a book titled ‘Nobody Goes to
Heaven Because Nobody Goes to Hell Fire’.

In her book she expressed her displeasure
with God and her disappointments.
She posted extracts of the book on her Facebook page
and it is causing  a controversy that been going on blogs across the country.

Her opinions are quite fierce.

According to sources Stephanie Rose was expelled from
Obafemi Awolowo University in 2001 over identity crisis
issues but now resides in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She was sexually harassed while growing up and since then been having sex with guys believing she was female with a male body and this was one was the reasons why she transgendered.

OAU’s Team HAI Make It To Fayrouz L’Originals Finals

OAU’s Team HAI have emerged finalist in the Fayrouz L’Original Expression Show Season 2. They were outstandingly creative with their presentation and style among the six teams that made it to the semifinals which held at Tinapa Lakeside Hotel in Calabar on Sunday 21st of June 2015.
The six semi-finalists teams were tasked to make
pieces from Fayrouz elements. The Eco fashion task saw
the teams thinking outside the box to impress the
judges.

However, it was Team HAI from Ibadan and Team
Meddlelane from Lagos that impressed the judges more
with their style, make-up, modelling and photography.
While Team Meddlelane went for a feisty, edgy and
sophisticated look, Team HAI explored the goddess look
of Sin – the goddess of the Sinai Island where Fayrouz
gemstones can be found. They implemented the design
with Fayrouz cans, crowns and bottles.

The teams were judged on originality, creativity, synergy
and interpretation of the task given.
Team HAI will now battle  Team Meddlelane for the N4 million cash
prize at the grand finale holding in July in Lagos.

Fayrouz L’Original Expression Show is designed to give
young undergraduates and fresh graduates with unique
creative abilities a platform to showcase their original
works for a chance to win amazing prizes and
opportunities.
