School Activities Halted As OAU Students Protest

After a two-day black out on OAU campus last week, the students decided at an impromptu conference that held on Friday,  26th November to protest the deplorable welfare state on campus as well as other incidents such as the fire outbreak in Moremi hall late last year and the disappearance of fire extinguishers reinforced this decision. The student populace decided on a peaceful protest which was to start with a lecture boycott on the 30th of November. 

The management, however, issued a circular promising better welfare conditions on a condition that all activities return to normal and also threatened to scrap out the session if the protest conditions continues.

Currently students are at the campus gate demanding an improved conditions in living standards on OAU campus. See pictures below:

Students react to ASUU OAU two weeks break

Several reactions have emanated from the supposed ASUU OAU two weeks break which the school management is yet to confirm. The Siwes students who have been in school since the break started could not hide their joy on hearing this, many have started packing their bags and baggages. Elated OAU football fans also saw this as an opportunity to enjoy the world cup in the comfort of their homes. Although, many seems to be happy, but some consider it “Nonsense” as one Oyewale on Twitter put it.

The ASUU OAU chapter on Monday gave its members a 2 week break which will start on the 15th of june 2014. According to the chairman, the teaching staff needs to rest as regards their health and also, to be fully equiped for the coming session. “We are not saying the students should not resume on the 15th, but our members need to rest,” says the chairman. The date set for a return is said to be June 29th, meaning lectures is likely to start on the 30th of June,  except the university senate wants to lecture all the students.
